Alpha Hydroxy Acid Definition | Peter Thomas Roth

Alpha Hydroxy Acid

Alpha Hydroxy Acids, or AHAs, chemically exfoliate skin to help reveal a more youthful, radiant appearance. Some of the most effective AHAs include glycolic acid (derived from sugarcane), lactic acid (derived from milk), malic acid (derived from apples) and citric acid (derived from citrus fruits).

Alpha Hydroxy Acids may increase skin's sensitivity to the sun and risk of sunburn. It is advised to use a sunscreen, wear protective clothing and limit sun exposure while using products containing AHAs and for a week afterwards.
